write hear, write now

was a 2003 summer school for rawmarsh clc, rotherham. The project started with a long walk around the local neighbourhood, equiped with a pair of minidisk recorders to capture what we heard. From the walk we created a number of performance poems based around the sights and sounds we had experienced. Finally we conducted a number of "oral history" type interviews with residents from the area. The final result was an audio documentary of a summers day in rawmarsh in 2003. The full project will soon be available on the rawmarsh clc website. If you can't wait here is a short extract.
